The Control of Electromagnetic Fields at Work Regulations (2016)

On 29 June 2013, the EU issued the Electromagnetic Fields Directive (2013/35/EU) and gave member states until 1 July 2016 to implement it as law. The Control of Electromagnetic Fields at Work Regulations (2016) are the UK’s implementation of this Directive. Other EU member states will have similar regulations that they also had to implement by this date.

These regulations will have an impact on any company that is carrying out magnetic particle inspection. Under this regulation, employers have a responsibility to assess the level of Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs) that employees are being exposed to.
